Parent Column from Maureen Morrow – July 2019

Jun 26, 2019 | Parent Column

My best friend, other half, my first born, Vanessa, passed away from sudden cardiac arrest. We never got to say goodbye.  The irony of it was that she was a nurse working her shift when it happened, no warning signs.

This happened on November 23, 2017, Thanksgiving day. Vanessa loved working with those who had disabilities, including drug addiction.  She was an intelligent, good hearted person who loved her brother and sisters, nieces and nephews  We took a trip to Florida every year, called it our piece of paradise.

Everyday I scream out why, why was she taken from us at such a young age (38).  Life will never be the same. A large part of my heart is gone, life is lonely, she was my world.  She was always ready to help anyone.
