Hopes and Dreams
When we grieve, it is not just the past and the present that we yearn for, but the potential of the future that has been taken. When we care deeply about someone, it can be difficult to accept that the future is forever changed. Sometimes the hope for a better tomorrow is the only think that gets us out of bed in the morning. In reality, this can be very difficult when grieving. The impossibility of having your loved one with you to enjoy in the future can be overwhelming. Some will hold on to the past, limiting the ability to find a fulfilling future and others will be distracted from finding joy in the things they do have. Those who are able to find ways to grieve the past while incorporating the legacy of their loved one into the future often find some peace. There are many ways to keep your loved one’s memory alive. Celebrate birthdays, tell stories, make a memorial space, create new traditions while incorporating your loved one’s memory.
