NO ONE HAS TO GRIEVE ALONE

COPE is a nonprofit grief and healing organization dedicated to helping parents and families living with the loss of a child.

How COPE Can Help You

“After the loss of my daughter, Michelle, I didn’t think I would ever recover, ever survive the pain, ever live again. Over the past thirty-two years, I have rediscovered life again – a life that includes my daughter, Michelle, and a love that is forever”
– Lilly Julien, COPE Founder and President Emerita

Started by bereaved parents in 1999, COPE is a nonprofit grief and healing organization that supports and connects grieving individuals with others facing similar losses through professionally led support groups for parents, adult siblings, and young adults, healing workshops, a grief support phone line, a bereavement camp for children and parent/caregivers, and trainings for community partners.

Having experienced profound loss ourselves, COPE families understand the pain, frustration, and isolation those in mourning often experience. By providing practical resources and emotional support, we help grieving individuals find strength and hope in knowing they do not have to face this journey alone.

In partnership with @pinelawnmemorialpark, join us for a free online workshop, where facilitator Dr. Tashel Bordere will focus on cultural challenges involved in coping with loss. The presentation will address ways that grieving individuals may be disenfranchised and faced with Bordere’s (2014, 2016) concept of “suffocated grief” wherein individual and communities are penalized or punished for their bereavement needs, grief, and mourning practices. The presentation will discuss strategies to disrupt oppression of grieving families and communities.
